Cadair Idris Via The Minffordd Path

Hikers climbing a rocky mountain ridge under a cloudy sky.

Sunday 8th November 2026

Join us for a beautiful autumn circular mountain hike on Cadair Idris, taking in the Minffordd Path and two of the mountain's main summits.

We start from Dol Idris car park and follow the Minffordd Path towards Penygadair, the summit of Cadair Idris at 893m. From here, we continue across to Mynydd Moel at 863m before descending and completing the circular route back to our starting point.

This is a challenging mountain walk over steep and rocky terrain, with some significant ascent and descent. The route offers fantastic views across the Cadair Idris range and surrounding landscape, particularly beautiful at this time of year.

Route details

  • Distance: 10km (6 miles)
  • Total ascent: 937m
  • Duration: Approx. 5.5 hours, including stops
  • Grade: 4 – steep, rocky terrain
  • Cost: £40 per person

Full meeting details, timings and information on what to bring will be sent by email 7–10 days before the event.
